Who assigns cfi codes

Euronext Dublin is the National Numbering Agency for ISINs (International Security Identification Number). We are responsible for issuance and maintenance of ISIN, CFI (Classification of Financial Instruments) and FISN (Financial Instrument Short Name) codes for Irish domiciled entities (Bond, Fund and Equity) and bond securities where the issuance takes place in Ireland.

What is an ISIN, CFI and FISN?

What is an ISIN?

An International Securities Identification Number (ISIN) is recognised as the global standard for unique identification of financial instruments.

An ISIN is a 12-character alpha-numerical code.

What is CFI?

The CFI (classification of financial instruments) code is used to define and describe financial instruments as a uniform set of codes for all market participants.

The CFI consists of six alphabetical characters.

What is FISN?

The FISN (Financial Instrument Short Name) provides a consistent and uniform approach to standardise short names and descriptions for financial instruments. The FISN consists of up to maximum of 35 characters, composed by issuer short name, and instrument description.

Apply for new ISIN(s)

ISIN delivery includes FISN and CFI Codes

Once we validate your submission, we issue ISIN(s), FISN(s) and CFI codes and will you send you a confirmation email containing these codes.

Your account details will also be updated to include the ISIN(s).

Update ISIN(s)

Once we validate your update submission, we send you a confirmation email containing any updates made to ISIN, FISN or CFI codes.
